ReplyDeleteBecause it's part of Pi's story. It is how Pi survived and was able to regain his strength. If he didn't reach the island, he would have died with Richard Parker on the boat. I also thought maybe the author is letting us know that Pi is delusional at this point of the story and could not distinguish his illusion with reality.
I have NO clue why Yann Martel added chap 92.
ReplyDeleteChapter 92 is important because Pi and Richard Parker made it a island. Pi finally is able to gain some strength after stay still are not being able to move for day. Pi has this Lush green island to discover giving him hope. Green is the color of Islam and pi favorite color and the color that saves him from the ocean(blue).
ReplyDeleteI feel that the reason Martel had chapter 92 in the book is because it adds a little bit of hope to Pi's journey. Here he is on a lifeboat for months at a time without much to eat or drink and then he comes across an island which provides him with sustenance. I feel that Martel wanted us to see that just when your about to give up hope something favorable comes your way and that's what life is about.
ReplyDeleteJoseph:
ReplyDeleteI think Martel included ch. 92 because he thought the idea of a carniverous island was really cool, and he wanted to bring some sci-fi elements to the book.
I think Pi's arrival on the island was what he needed to continue his journey on the lifeboat to civilization. Pi was quite intent on staying on the island until he was able to realize the type of life he'd be living if he were to stay. I think him arriving on the island was a reminder of why Pi was still trying so hard to stay alive, so that he could return to his family.
ReplyDeletei think martel included ch 92 because it gave everyone a sense of hope that he is reaching more land. That he will regain his strength and push forward to be rescued and brought back to his family.
ReplyDeleteThe author includes this chapter o give the reader a sense of hope and closure to the story. the author continues to describe how pi uses his life skills to keep on going in his journey to survive. this keeps the reader interested in finishing this book.
ReplyDeletei believe chapter 92 was important because, it showed that pi determination to live and all his stuggles have finally payed off in a sense. becasue he has finally found an island that he can live off. i believe pi found this island becasue of his hope.
ReplyDeleteI think Martel added this chapter because it gave Pi hope and makes the story more exciting. Pi and Richard Parker were on the brink of the death and the island saved there lives. This brings more excitement and interest to whats on the island and how he will survive there.
